About Black Republicans

                                                 Go below the swiggle.

I am going to make this short and sweet. I don't think you have to be an idiot or self-loathing to be a black Republican. I don't. I accept that people have various reasons for why they choose which party they do and if so I will not judge them. I don't agree with calling them Uncle Toms or race-traitors etc, (not that I've seen people do that here just in general that attitude is not helpful). But, I the one thing I find annoying about black Republicans is this feeling of superiority some seem to exihibit. I have seen comments from black Republicans or those citing them in arguments in ways that although they seem to be saying they want to help blacks improve their economic condition all ways have this tone of "I'm/they're a Republican therefore I'm/they're better than other blacks." It comes of as very preachy and condescding to me the apparent belief that if a person is black and a democrat (i.e. most blacks) they have no work-ethic, hate white people, and are uneducated and live on welfare. And for the most part that's the message black Republicans seem to send is that the Democrats are keeping blacks down (something they  ironcially enough say blacks should stop saying about white people) and how all problems in the black communtiy would be solved or at least be on a way to being resolvd by voting Republican. To me, that blacks are all just mindless sheeple needing to be rescued (by either party) is supremely offensive. Now, to repeat, I do not hate black Republicans, I hate the self-righteous Mosses-like attitude some of them seem to exude.

I have sincere doubts that any members of my family are Republicans. To the best of my knowledge, none of us are on welfare. None of us blame white people for all of our problems. None are unwillling to work for a living. Many live in what I could call upper-middle class lives in upper middle class neighborhoods. I am going to college, I have no say in the matter and, neither do my cousins because their parents value education. And, I know many people at school like this as well. None of them are Republicans so I guess that right there destroys many of thier preconceived notions.

I leave you with this article. It was part of the reason I decided to type this up. I would also like to encourage you to read some of the comments. I admit he pointed out major problems, but he and I differ severely on how to deal with them.
